The user's account will typically remember what items were placed in it that haven't yet been bought; however the site may remove items automatically if they become unavailable for purchase on the store. Also items may be unavailable for purchase even though they appear in the cart; however in this event the user should be notified by the site that sales of the item cannot made, or the sale should not go through.
Because prices can be subject to change, it is the responsibility of the user to check that the total at the checkout [before they click 'buy' or 'buy now' or a similar button] is the amount they are willing to pay. If not the user can return to the cart, double check the prices and remove items if necessary.
